Teeth can be sensitive for many reasons, such as:
An injured nerve in the tooth
Gum Problems
Excessive Grinding
Bite Problems
Sinus Problems
Only with an exam and x-ray can the exact cause be
found. The earlier the cause for the sensitivity is found, the more
conservatively the tooth can be treated. Sensitivity
may go away for a time, but it almost always comes back feeling much more
painful.
Treatment can range from placing desensitizing liquid to a simple filling to a
root canal. If you do need a root canal, we can mostly do them in our
office and we'll do everything possible to make you comfortable. Believe
it or not, many of our patients fall asleep as we do their root canals!
